Brief Profile description about the Officer in-charge:
Shri Sandeep Rajgotra is a 2021 batch Indian Forest Service Officer. He is a graduate in Mechanical Engineering with a postgraduate specialisation in Machine Design. He has over six years of professional experience as an Indian Engineering Services (IES) officer with Indian Railways, where he contributed to various technical and managerial roles. Outside of his professional responsibilities, Shri Sandeep likes to travel and explore new places.

ABOUT THE DIVISION
The Kiphire Forest Division, established in the year 2017, is located within the ecologically significant Saramati Range, characterized by a diverse terrain comprising sub-tropical to alpine forests, steep ridges, deep gorges, and limestone cave systems found in villages like Mimi and Khongjiri, as well as important river systems including the Zungki, Tizu and Likhimro.
The Division actively promotes conservation efforts through youth engagement, sustainable livelihood training programs, and ecosystem restoration initiatives. Challenges such as jhum cultivation and unsustainable land use are being tackled through strong community participation and collaborative initiatives under government programs like the Nagaland Forest Management Project (NFMP).
Currently, the Division is headed by Shri. Sandeep Rajgotra, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Kiphire. He is assisted by Shri. Chupitho, SFS, Assistant Conservator of Forest (ACF) Kiphire. The Division has one (1) Range i.e. the Kiphire Range, headed by Shri. Aaron Yimchunger, Forest Range Officer,
Major Activities and Initiatives:
- Nagaland Forest Management Project (NFMP): Implementation of sustainable forest management practices with community participation and institutional strengthening.
- Forest Fire Prevention and Management: Conduct of regular fire risk assessments, community sensitization, and fire line creation for proactive forest fire control.
- Celebration of Wildlife and Environment Events: Organization of awareness campaigns, competitions, and outreach during events such as World Environment Day, Wildlife Week and International Day of Forests.
- Distribution of Seedlings: Annual distribution of seedlings to individuals, schools, and community institutions to promote afforestation and ecological restoration.
